#historic #chicago #stockyards #meatpacking #plants Found this location while out driving around Chicago looking for locations. This was the main entrance to the stock yards or the yards. The district was operated by a group of railroad companies that aquired the property & turned it into a centralized processing area.By the 1890s, the money behind it was Vanderbuilt money, The area is now known as the Back of the Yards neighborhood. On Dec 22,1910 there was a huge fire that killed 21 firemen & in 2004 it was made into a monument to all involved, A larger fire on May 19,1934 burned more than 90% of the stockyards.
