Changing the names of Cisco Routers or Switches prevents complexity in future network changes. The default name of a Router you use in GNS3 is R1. And +1 number is added next to the name of each newly added device. You may want to consider renaming your devices for more organized and specific network design. To change the Cisco Router's Hostname: Step 1: In CLI, switch to privileged mode with the command "conf t". Step 2: Type hostname to define a new name in R1 (config) #. Step 3: Next to Hostname, type the name you want to change and press Enter. R1(config)# hostname ARouter You can change or rename your Router by following these steps.
