Yes, Google Analytics for Mobile is a great tool to track App performance. Just that, you need to use additional SDKs (Google Analytics SDK for Android, etc) to custom tweak for your reporting. The standard version gives standard data like number of sessions, geography, bounce, session time but for more custom reports, you’d need to use their SDKs to integrate with your app to get desired data metrics from GA.
