Building Political Will to Solve Climate Change | Peter Bryn

submitted by saltalberta on 08/11/19 1

Peter describes a new way to fight climate change on a political policy level. Due largely to the tireless work of Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) volunteers across the country, the first bipartisan carbon pricing legislation in nearly a decade was introduced in both the House and Senate: the Energy Innovation Act. This presentation will introduce the Act, and engage citizens on how they can have a productive, respectful dialogue with their members of Congress on how to solve climate change risks. Peter Bryn is an engineer working on marine electrification with ABB, having previously worked with ExxonMobil for eight years. He chose the energy industry because of a concern about the dual challenges of providing affordable energy while responsibly managing climate change risks. Six years ago, Peter created the Houston Chapter of Citizens' Climate Lobby, which has grown into nearly a dozen Chapters across the Houston Metro Region.
