Rose de Mai

submitted by Huzzaz on 06/15/19 1

Every year in May, the Centifolia rose blooms in Grasse, France. It is the rarest, most fragrant rose in the world and can only be harvested by hand, at dawn, within a four-hour window. Rose pickers from neighboring towns arrive every May at rose fields which have been cultivated by the family for six generations. In this short doc, the harvesters reflect on their relationship to the rose and the personal meaning of this fleeting bloom. director BRADLEY TANGONAN cinematographer JEREMY SNELL producer ALEXANDRA BYER line producer MADELEINE ASKWITH creative director DEBORAH ROYER creative operations CAROLINA KINA 1st AC TIMOTHEE ARENE sound recordist CHRISTOPHER SCHNEIDER editors NICK STONE / BRADLEY TANGONAN music JORDAIN WALLACE mix ZAK ENGEL color KATH RAISCH / COMPANY 3
