And with good reason. This game is a must buy for any fighting game fan. The story is excellent, the graphics are superb, and the fighting is fast and electric. It lives up to the standard set by MK9. This game is the complete package. The story while short, is like a big budget hollywood-popcorn movie. You'll spend the bulk of your time playing on arcade mode, or online. The Krypt in itself will keep you occupied for hours just trying to find its secrets and unlocking its different pathways. Following the defeat of Shao Kahn, Shinnok attacks Earth with his army of Netherrealm forces, including the resurrected Earthrealm warriors who were killed during Kahn's invasion and are now under Quan Chi's control. You will fight as some of Mortal Kombat's most beloved characters, including Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, Jax, Sub Zero and Raiden. You will also take the control of some brand new characters, including Cassie Cage, Jacqui Briggs, and Kung Jin. This is one of the few times where we see long spans of time pass by, as the story is told in a non-linear fashion. There is feeling that is is somewhat the "next-generation" since many of the new characters are the children or young relatives of classic characters. NetherRealm Studios have done an amazing job with this game, and is definitely worthy of a purchase. As always, we used relevant gameplay, important dialogue and all cutscenes, to create one fluid cinematic experience. With the gameplay sections we didn't just cut it to show when we were beating up the opponent. We left both sides of the fight to help make it feel more realistic.
