What is the key to product cinematography? This week we sit with commercial cinematographer and motion control supervisor Kazu Okuda who has shot spots for Elle, Vogue, Express, Omega, and a litany of product videos for brands like Dior, Hennessy, Chanel, and Oscar de la Renta. High end product cinematography is one of the most difficult things to light. There are no happy accidents, you have only your skills and experience to make it look good. Kazu gives us some fundamental tips for creating high-end product cinematography with common filmmaking tools. We also discuss why high-end commercial clients use motion control systems like the Bolt and how one can bring some of those techniques into their own projects. ▶ Check out my gear on Kit: kit.com/IndyMogul ▶ We shoot with: Canon 1DX Mark II amzn.to/2H6LLqj Canon 6D Mark II amzn.to/2ICYZxt Canon EF 16–35mm f/2.8L III USM amzn.to/2BSY0n6 Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 Mark V amzn.to/2TdkQja Zoom H5N amzn.to/2H4BsDh Deity V-MIc D3: amzn.to/2H0ikq1 Sennheiser EW 112P G4 – A1: amzn.to/2H30BhG JOBY Gorillapod: amzn.to/2H4KwrR Aerial Stock Footage: www.shutterstock.com/video?utm_source=partners&utm_medium=link&utm_campaign=2019-partnerships&utm_content=IndieMogul PODCAST: spoti.fi/2SJ99Ax (Spotify) bit.ly/2DI4ypS (Stitcher) apple.co/2Scrtlf (iTunes) INSTAGRAM: www.instagram.com/indymogul/ FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com/Indymogul/ Connect with Kazu: www.instagram.com/abc123kazu Connect with Ted: www.instagram.com/tedsimtv Shout out to MINU for helping us shoot B-Roll: www.instagram.com/minupark_in_the_mist/ #MotionControl #RED #Cinematography
