In the Bolivian city of Santa Cruz, Stef Biemans joins Marco, a young activist of the Marxist youth movement Columna del Sur. For Bolivians, Westerners are mainly the 'gringos', the white Americans. The country wants to become completely independent from the West. Marco has a socialist society in mind. He makes anti-imperialist wall paintings to awaken his country, street art activism. In Bolivia, revolutions do not start on Facebook but on the walls of the city. What are walls for the bourgeoisie are social media for the proletariat. Marco takes Stef to the anti-imperialist military academy, which was founded by Morales in 2016. Anyone who wants to become a colonel in the Bolivian army must first learn to think anti-imperialist and strategic. Marco also does not drink Coca Cola. Whoever drinks that, supports American capitalism, he thinks. And then you have blood on your hands. Because America supported coups in various Latin American countries, including Bolivia. Looking beyond our own navel, beyond our Western dogmas - to be able to reflect on what it actually means to be 'Western'.
