A long long time ago, during third century AD, there lived a devout couple Theophanes and Nonna. They had been without a child for more than thirty years, and after years of prayers, they had been blessed with a son. Nicholas was a very clever child, and by the time he was five years old, he had started studying the Bible.As a young boy, Nicholas loved to visit the nearby monastery, where his uncle was the abbot. It was here that Nicholas began his life long dedication to the church, as he joined in the daily worship, chanting prayers together with monks.
