Tavis Smiley and Professor Cornel West are outspoken African-American leaders. They are also willing to question Barack Obama's lack of commitment to the poor in America. Both are willing to be criticized at a time when support for the President from Blacks is overwhelming. They deserve great credit for that. But they are not just concerned about the suffering of the black community. Cornel and Smiley have spoken out against the rising poverty amongst all Americans. Both travel the country and the address the issue of income inequality in America on a regular basis.
