Lux Singers perform Bach’s “Mass in B Minor, BWV 232: Cum Sancto Spiritu”

Welcome to 3 & ½ minutes of pure Baroque insanity (a.k.a. relentless melismas)! :P The Lux Singers (directed by Leland Spindler) totally rocked their recent performance of “Cum Sancto Spiritu” from Bach’s “Mass in B Minor, BWV 232” (completed in 1749, the year before his death). ♪♪ And bravo to the 5 soloists: Abby Young / Jenny McKay (soprano), Lauren Neumayer (alto), Ka’imiloa Ruberson (tenor), & Andrew Neumayer (baritone)! :D This was performed at the Lux Choirs’ “How Great Thou Art” concert (which I accompanied on Oct. 25th at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church in SLC). This Bach piece was a bit of a nightmare for me to learn (mainly cuz I had to go through & simplify the beastly orchestral reduction), but it still was a rush to bring this exciting Bach piece to life w/ the incredible Lux Singers! ;) The translation of the Latin lyrics (“Cum sancto spiritu in gloria Dei Patris”) is “with the Holy Spirit in the glory of God the Father.” I look forward to accompany Lux Singers at their Veterans Day concert this Saturday evening at Gem Valley Performing Arts Center in Grace, Idaho! #roadtrip Then next month, I’ll be joining them again for their Christmas concert (feat. Halie Loren) on Dec. 5th at First Baptist Church in SLC! I love my Lux family! ♥ (Video filmed by Jordan Webecke) :) Here’s a great choral/orchestral recording of this same piece: www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTewNLXEKKU&t=0s&list=PL66ADqoYAp2QhG7VxY1a2HGh-KHX5s1vb&index=80
