Finding a job is the US is very convenient because you can do the applications and upload your resume online. You just submit your resume on a website and they will call or email you. What does an Immigrant need to work Legally? If you are a non-immigrant (for example K1 visa holder) ensure that you have applied for Employment Authorization card and your Social security number. If you came on a k1 fiance visa, you have to apply for your Employment Authorization card along with your green card. It may take a while to get your conditional green card (ours took 1 year) but the EAD card should comes before the green card. The EAD is good for 1 year. If you decide to work without your documentation, you are working illegally. The problem with this is that many "illegal" jobs are do not pay well, they do not give benefits and employers can take take advantage of you. Immigrants with a green card should not have a problem getting a job. First way is to go to online websites such as linkedin, indeed.com,careeravenue.com,monster.com and job.com Military spouses. If you are a military spouse you can apply in the military base. Each base has their own website to where you can apply online. You also have to call them to follow up on your application. That way you will be noticed by the people scanning applications. iPhone and android apps. In IOS phones, just go to the App store, then click the search box and type jobs and the apps will appear there. I once downloaded snagajob app. Snagajob wil request for your location. Once you put your zipcode the job hiring will appear. It will show the jobs that are near you or around town where you live. Last way is the old fashioned way. To go to the establishment of where you wish to apply. If there is a manager there who's currently hiring they might accept your application and get interviewed right there. Overall here in the US, all application are done online. Once the interview is done, they will let you know if you are proceeding for a second interview or you are hired and will proceed for your orientation. If they don't have the final decision and say that they will call you, don't lose hope yet because they will call you to let you know if you were hired or not. In my home country, when the interview is done and they say they will just call you if hired or not. That means you are not hired.
