NORMA RAE Martin Ritt 1979, 1h 54m, Drama Fed up with the conditions where she works, Norma Rae (Sally Field, in an Academy Award-winning performance) takes a stand against the owners of a textile mill. Having worked long hours for little pay in an unsafe factory, when a union representative named Reuben Warshowsky (Ron Leibman) arrives on the scene, Norma Rae soon joins his cause. From inside the factory, Norma Rae pushes for unionization, but her efforts lead to tension at work and at home. Having recently married a former co-worker, Sonny Webster (Beau Bridges), Norma Rae’s dedication to the union takes a toll on their entire family and they all fear her efforts may be in vain.
