While many hotels leave you feeling like you could be anywhere, the Foundation Hotel is uniquely designed to reflect Detroit. Formerly the headquarters of Detroit’s Fire Department, architects McIntosh Poris Associates embraced the original character and grandeur of the building while keeping within an impressively modest budget. Detroit design and creativity is on display thanks to the integration of over 45 local artists and makers who contributed everything from lighting fixtures to wallpaper.
