The WW3 game is in early access so remember if you have interest in playing the game you'll be paying to play an incomplete or beta version of the game....you know like any Battlefield title release in the passed 7 years. In the game's current state it seems like the devs are trying to make it be too many things at once. With the gadgets, player counts, game mode and vehicles we can see something similar to Battlefield. The killstreaks or pointstreaks are similar to the ones in the first Homefront game where you spend them on tactical items like cruise missiles, artillery or vehicles. You could also see it as being similar to Planetside 2 where you spend resources collected to spawn things like vehicles and maxes. The damage model is similar to different games depending on where the player is hit so at times it can feel like a MilSim and other times an arcade shooter. We already know the devs for the game are Battlefield fans and actually played the games so I'd like to see them push it further towards Battlefield with a few changes. Drop the whole crap version of BF1's "conquest" mode they currently have as it is too similar in the bad way where it feels like you have no affect on the outcome of the round. Instead go full classic conquest ( no it's not unique to Battlefield ) or conquest assault with tickets representing available reinforcements or respawns. With that I'd add in a revive mechanic to bring back downed teammates and a ticket because right now it feels like the mindless run and gun combat of games like COD, Blacklight: Retribution or again Homefront. Remove pointstreaks. Right now it looks like the game is focused around the "satisfaction" of saving up and spending points on the things available like a cruise missile or a tank. I think it would be better if the game was more than just that or had a core focus of something else. Yes these changes make it more like Battlefield but unless they plan to lean into it more I don't see this game lasting. The weapon and player customization is quite amazing ( too bad it still doesn't save currently ). You can make a pretty unique character for yourself or go for a classic tacticool look. The problem with the level of customization currently available is the weight system. Currently it doesn't appear to matter or affect the player enough when you max out the weight. You aren't slowed enough to really put you at a disadvantage and there don't appear to be other effects tied to it. If they are serious about it they should push it further to affect more things like the stability of your character when you are hit. Yes there are options in the game settings to reduce screenshake but the character flinch you get when being hit in a fire fight is still over the top for a video game, so having weight affect this might drive players to more unique kits instead of slapping everything on their soldier. If you can think of other things to have the weight system affect please mention them in the comments and explain how it would work. As you can see in the gameplay they either didn't implement hitboxes for arms or they aren't aligned ( haven't tested enough to confirm which it is ) because even in this video you can see multiple times where the enemy player is hit in the arm, blood spray is shown but no hit indicator or damage notification is given. I'm sure there are quite a few bugs in the game related to some of this but it's unclear if they indent to have limb penetration or if arms can block side shots where there is no armor. The armor system is interesting. It's great when it works but when it doesn't it feels like you had no chance to return fire or engage the target that was shooting at you. Also it seems like it is sort of punishing you for being accurate as I've had people survive headshots with sniper rifles but if I fire lower on the body where there is no armor they die in one shot. I guess I'm more referring to the balance of realism and enjoyable gun play. Although aiming for the gut every time will likely create some bad habits if you play other FPS games. The spawning system is a bit of a mess. I'll wait and see what the dev's plans are for this because there are quite a few issues related to it. As for servers and server related stuff I'm not sure they have any west coast servers available so I don't know for sure how the game is supposed to feel with things like hitregistration. It was too inconsistent for me to be able to tell in game if the hitregistration was client or server side. The "art direction" should make BF3 players feel right at home with the film filters they are using. For anyone asking if they should buy this game here is my generic response. Unless you have nothing else to play in the near future I'd wait. It obviously needs work being an early access game but I currently don't think there is enough of a game for the current price. Also I don't know why crouch sliding is in the game.
