This is a dressing change for and LVAD driveline. You have to be really careful about keeping your driveline sterile and protected from infection. My driveline has healed in really well and is over a year old. But, if you or someone you know is fresh out of the hospital with a new VAD, you should be much more careful about sterilization than I am being here. Doing a gentamiacine soak was what I did for several weeks before switching to chloroprep.
