Six months after U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry visited Sofia and reaffirmed the U.S.-Bulgarian strategic partnership, Minister Mitov will share his thoughts on U.S.-Bulgarian cooperation in security and defense, energy security, rule of law, education, and people-to-people ties in times of unprecedented regional global complexity. From the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, increased Russian influence in Central and Southern Europe, and the Greek economic crisis to unrest in the Middle Recent and migration crisis, the shared values of the transatlantic community and the fundamental pillars of liberal democracies are experiencing profound challenges.
