PIIE Senior Fellow Jeffrey J. Schott presented a new Policy Brief, An Assessment of the Korea-China Free Trade Agreement, at a release meeting on December 11, 2015, followed by a discussion with his coauthors Euijin Jung and Cathleen Cimino-Isaacs. The Policy Brief assesses the main results of the agreement and its implications for economic integration in the region. The authors argue that the agreement fell short in setting a high benchmark for future initiatives but reconfirmed China’s deliberate and incremental approach to trade and investment liberalization.
