Ángel Ubide, former Institute senior fellow, presents the main findings of his new book published by PIIE, The Paradox of Risk: Leaving the Monetary Policy Comfort Zone, on October 19, 2017. He argues that most Western economic policymakers have dogmatically adhered to a conservative mindset that made them hesitate to take action when the global financial crisis erupted in 2007–08. He calls on world leaders to abandon old myths and learn the lessons from the financial crisis and its sluggish aftermath.
