Thomas Hughes - Patient Specific Modeling and the Predictive Paradigm in Medicine

April 24, 2010 - New NAS member Thomas J.R. Hughes of The University of Texas at Austin presented his work in computational mechanics to NAS members. His work includes the development of patient-specific simulation technologies for cardiovascular disease, variational multiscale methods for complex fluid flows and turbulence, and Isogeometric Analysis: geometrically exact methods in computational mechanics that hold promise to unify computer aided design and engineering analysis.
