April 29, 2017 - Chemical synthesis is used to produce nearly all of the products used in modern life, including plastics, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, electronic materials, and personal care products. Sanford will show how advances in chemical synthesis can dramatically reduce the cost associated with making these products as well as increase the sustainability of their production. In addition, it can lead to completely new chemical structures that have applications ranging from new medical imaging agents for cancer and Alzheimer's as well as new materials for energy storage.
