How can storytelling and poetry programs help improve the quality of life and alleviate symptoms for Alzheimer’s sufferers? On May 13, 2015m a special teleconference was hosted by USAgainstAlzheimer’s, in partnership with the NEA Interagency Task Force on the Arts and Human Development. Guest speakers discussed how art programs can mitigate Alzheimer’s symptoms, share the latest research, and recommend ways to implement programs on the ground. Speakers included: Sunil Iyengar, Director, Office of Research & Analysis at the National Endowment for the Arts Gary Glazner, Executive Director of the Alzheimer's Poetry Project Anne Basting, Founder and President of the TimeSlips Creative Storytelling Project Dr. Kate de Medeiros, Robert H. and Nancy J. Blayney Professor Gerontology at Miami University. The session was moderated by George Vradenburg, Chairman and co-Founder, USAgainstAlzheimer’s.
