Vandana Shiva, founder of the Research Foundation for Science, Technology, and Ecology in India, gave the Bartlett Lecture at Yale Divinity School on Wednesday, April 11. Dr. Shiva’s lecture, “Earth Democracy: Peace with the Earth, Justice for All.” Vandana Shiva is an author, activist, educator, scientific adviser, and mother who combines sharp intellectual inquiry with courageous activism. In addition to her work with her research foundation, she is a founder and leader of Navdanya, a movement to protect the diversity and integrity of living resources—especially native seed—and to promote organic farming and fair trade in India. Dr. Shiva’s contributions to gender equity, including her book "Staying Alive", are internationally recognized.
