Jack Reed, a national leader on defense and economic issues, delivers a lecture as part of the Watson Distinguished Speaker Series. A former Army Ranger, Reed has served in several levels of government and has served Rhode Island as U.S. senator for almost two decades. Reed is a prominent Democrat on the Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development, where he focuses on directing federal funding to the Ocean State to create jobs, strengthen its infrastructure, and support economic and community development. He has also contributed to the creation of essential reform laws that have given families the tools to fight abusive financial marketplace practices.
