submitted by Marvin's Underground Evening Lectures on 10/10/18 1

Mario Draghi, President of the European Central Bank, presented the 2013 Malcolm Wiener Lecture in International Political Economy. Dr. Draghi addressed ongoing reforms to the European Union in the process of moving towards what he characterized as "a more perfect union." He addressed topics including the political implications of a single market and emphasized the need for supranational authority, including in the form of a banking union. Questions from the audience included the ECB's response to the crisis in Cyprus and Dr. Dragi's vision for the future of the European Union. David Ellwood, Dean of the John F. Kennedy School of Government, opened and moderated the event, and Lawrence Summers introduced the speaker.
