submitted by Marvin's Underground Evening Lectures on 10/10/18 1

On October 20, 2017, the Museum of Natural and Cultural History welcomed anthropologist, curator, and activist Deana Dartt (Chumash) as a part of our annual Archaeology Lecture Series with her talk “Indigenizing Curatorial Practice.” Indigenizing Curatorial Practice Anthropologist, curator, and activist Deana Dartt (Chumash) Native scholars have written extensively on decolonizing museums that feature Native American history and culture. But is it possible to truly change the Euro-American model that most cultural museums offer? Join anthropologist, curator, and activist Deana Dartt (Chumash) and explore ways that museums can interrupt historic, European-American narratives and apply indigenized practices across every facet of the museum.
