Following a ruling in support of a right to be forgotten earlier this year, we explore the interactions between the rights to privacy and to freedom of expression. PROPOSITION Gavin Phillipson is a solicitor and Chair in Law at Durham University. His research focuses on European and UK human rights law, especially freedom of expression. Emma Carr has a strong interest in cyber security and crime. She is Director of Big Brother Watch, focussing on the protection of civil liberties. David Smith is Deputy Commissioner with responsibility for Data Protection at the Information Commissioner's Office. OPPOSITION Julian Huppert is a fellow at Clare and has been the Liberal Democrat MP for Cambridge since 2010. His interests include DNA databases, human rights and civil liberties. Mariam Cook is the founder and CEO of PositionDial, and a former senior digital consultant at the PR firm Porter Novelli. Dr. Gabriel Hughes has over 15 years of experience leading big data and analytics for global Science and Technology companies such as Google and Elsevier. Alastair McCapra is Chief Executive of The Chartered Institute of Public Relations.
