Historically feminism has been dominated by privileged women - we ask whether the movement has failed and is failing those most in need of aid. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••­••••••••••• PROPOSITION ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••­••••••••••• Dame Barbara Stocking, President of Murray Edwards, was previously CEO of Oxfam GB. Notably she worked to alleviate crises in the Middle East and Asia. Srishti Krishnamoothy is a 2nd year doctoral candidate in english at Newnham, has broken as speaker and judge at multiple intervarsity debating tournaments,and is one of the chief adjudicators of the Cambridge Women's Open. Sharmila Parmanand was co-CA of world universities debating championships, and has multiple breaks as speaker and judge at international debating tournaments. She has a masters in gender and development from the University of Melbourne and ispolicy director of visayan forum, a Philippine-based NGO working to address modern slavery ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••­••••••••••• OPPOSITION ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••­••••••••••• Dr Ruba Salih teaches Gender Studies at the University of London. She actively supports the "Women Against Sanctions, War and Militarization of Middle East" movement. Tehmina Kazi is director of British Muslims for Secular Democracy and her research focuses on human rights issues, particularly violence against women in South Asia. Leyla Hussein is a campaigner against FGM and violence against women and children. She is co-founder of Daughters of Eve and presented The Cruel Cut documentary.
