As the global political community continues to tighten its economic belt, scientists and charity experts alike came together to place the necessity of space exploration in the context of other pressing global issues and other areas of scientific research. ****************** PROPOSITION ****************** Dr. Christine Corbett Moran is a computational astrophysicist formerly employed at SpaceX. Based in LA, she is presently a postdoctoral scholar at Caltech doing research on galaxy formation, black holes, and the mysteries of the gravitational force. Prof. Gerry Gilmore is a Professor of Experimental Philosophy at the Cambridge Institute of Astronomy, and UK Principal Investigator for the Gaia Satellite mission Professor Alastair Reynolds turned from space science to space fiction. He left the European Space Agency in 2004 to become a full-time writer. His works have won the Seiun and Sidewise awards ****************** OPPOSITION ****************** Dr Bapuji Rao Velagapudi is a trustee of HEAL, a UK Charity that works to alleviate child poverty in India. Myrto Vlakazi is a second year medic at Newnham College. She has lived in Greece and has been debating and public speaking for the past seven years, earning multiple national awards. She also enjoys philosophy and foreign languages. Cammy Mitchell is a first year medical student at Robinson College. She has five years experience in Model United Nations, chairing at the largest youth conference in the world.
