Adel Ahmed Al-Jubeir, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, addresses the general debate of the 73rd Session of the General Assembly of the UN (New York, September 25 – October 01, 2018). Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir told the UN General Assembly that Iran was continuing its “terrorist activities and hostile behaviour” adding that peace and stability in the Middle East requires “deterring Iran’s expansionist and subversive policies.” Addressing the Assembly today (28 Sep), Al-Jubeir said Saudi Arabia supports to the new strategy by the United States “in dealing with Iran, including dealing with its nuclear programme, its ballistic missile programme, and its support for terrorism.” The Saudi Foreign Minister said, “Iran has created armed terrorist militias and provided them with ballistic missiles. It has assassinated diplomats and attacked diplomatic missions. This, in addition to its stirring of sectarian strife and interference in the internal affairs of the countries in the region. This aggressive behaviour is a glaring breach of all international laws, treaties, and Security Council resolutions. For this, Iran is under international sanctions.” Al-Jubier said Houthi militias in Yemen have fired 199 Iranian-made ballistic missiles towards Saudi Arabia and have threatened international shipping lanes in the Red Sea. He reaffirmed his country’s commitment to a political solution in Yemen based on the Gulf Peace Initiative, the outcome of the Yemeni National Dialogue, and Security Council resolution 2216. ----------------------- Watch General Debate of the General Assembly (in original language) unwebtv.live/73_UNGA_FL
