Eldirdiri Mohamed Ahmed, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Sudan, addresses the general debate of the 73rd Session of the General Assembly of the UN (New York, 25 September - 01 October 2018). Sudanese Foreign Minister Mohamed Ahmed Eldirdiri said the “current atmosphere is very conducive to resolve all outstanding issues” between his country and South Sudan. Eldirdiri said the mediation efforts of President Omar Al Bashir between the South Sudanese parties created a new phase between the two countries, adding that it would not have been successful had it not been for the trust granted to Bashir by President Silva Kirr and Dr. Riak Mashaar. He said the two countries have begun “informal consultations which could reinforce trust and turn the page on disagreement forever.” The Sudanese Foreign Minister congratulated the South Sudanese people on the signing of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (RARCSS) in Addis Ababa.
