April 2, 2016 Speakers: Session Chair: Mary Voigt, College of William and Mary; Lorenzo d’Alfonso, NYU, Institute for the Study of the Ancient World and director of excavations, Kinik Höyük “Gordion, Phrygia, and their ties to Post-Hittite Central Anatolia”; Elizabeth Simpson, Bard Graduate Center, and Director, Gordion Furniture Project "Woodworking at Gordion in Its Near Eastern Context" International scholars and archaeological excavation directors exploring Phrygian culture found at Gordion and other sites around Turkey come together for a scholarly conference funded by the Office of the Provost University of Pennsylvania Research Council, the School of Arts and Sciences, the Center for Ancient Studies, the Penn Museum, the Graduate Group in the Art and Archaeology of the Mediterranean World, and the departments of Anthropology, Classical Studies, History of Art, and Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations.
