Linda K. Jacobs discusses the story of the first Syrian immigrant family to the United States. Speaker Biography: Linda Jacobs has a Ph.D. in Near Eastern archaeology and anthropology from the University of Oregon. Her dissertation was on the second millennium settlement patterns of Iran. She has spent much of her professional life working in economic development projects in the Middle East and North Africa region. Jacobs has worked with the Near East Foundation for ten years and continues to serve on its board, as well as serving on the board of the American University of Beirut for three years and the board of the Polytechnic, now the Tandon School at New York University.
