Ethnomusicologist Burt Feintuch discussed his life and career with Nancy Groce. Speaker Biography: Burt Feintuch is professor of folklore and English and director of the Center for the Humanities at the University of New Hampshire. He has published on traditional music, cultural conservation and other topics in traditional and vernacular culture. From 1990-95 he edited the Journal of American Folklore. With David H. Watters, he published the "Encyclopedia of New England," which was named a best book of the year by the Boston Globe and the Library Journal, among others. He has done ethnographic research in roots music cultures in Great Britain, the United States and Canada. His latest book, "In the Blood: Cape Breton Conversations on Culture," won an Independent Publisher Book Award. His current book project is "Talking New Orleans Music." He serves on the National Recording Preservation Board and has represented the American Folklore Society at the World Intellectual Property Organization.
