Joan Kaywell of the University of South Florida facilitated a discussion among five authors who shared stories about surviving chaos and trauma through fiction and real life. The authors, whose books target young children and youth, included Laurie Halse Anderson, Jarrett J. Krosoczka, Barry Lyga, Kekla Magoon and Meg Medina.
