Libby Smigel and Kate Doyle discuss the collaborations of modern dance choreographer Erick Hawkins and experimental music composer Lucia Dlugoszewski. Now accessible in the artists' papers in the Library, correspondence, choreographic notation and music charts and scores shed light on the note-taking system Hawkins developed that show his creative process as well as create movement scores for his dances. The papers of Dlugoszewski include letters to her parents that provide new biographical information about her early training and the influential circle of mentors that surrounded her.
