There’s nothing like canceling your trip to China just five days before the BIGGEST fashion show in the world is set to film, am I right? Gigi Hadid announced on her Twitter yesterday that she will not be flying to Shanghai, China, to walk in the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which tapes next week and airs on television on November 28th, like she had originally planned. The blonde-haired beauty wrote QUOTE “I’m so bummed I won’t be able to make it to China this year. Love my VS family, and will be with all my girls in spirit!! Can’t wait to tune in with everyone to see the beautiful show I know it will be, and already can’t wait for next year! x” Gigi announced that she would be walking in her third Victoria’s Secret runway show back in August, posting a throwback video from a previous fitting and said it was QUOTE “forever and ever and ever a dream come true to be asked back to the VS Show !!!” Unfortunately, we have no idea why Gigi decided that she could no longer be a part of the fashion show this time around. We do know that a few Russian models and one Ukrainian model will be forced to miss the show, too, because they were reportedly denied Chinese visas for unknown reasons. After this news broke, some people started calling for Gigi’s visa to also be denied based on a February 2017 video that showed her scrunching her face up to imitate a Buddha cookie. Gigi later apologized for the insensitive video, but some people were still super upset when they found out she was still invited to China to take place in the Victoria’s Secret show. Her Instagram page was inundated with snake Emojis and messages telling her she wasn’t welcome in the country. Even though Gigi won’t be walking the runway, her little sister Bella Hadid is still set to be a part of the show for the second year in a row, so you’ll still get a little Hadid action.
