Demonstrating a quick, reliable and easy method to defeat the false gates on an ABUS 165/40 4-wheel combination padlock. It is great fun to play with that lock and decode it. This lock has gates (true or false) on every second position which prevents it from being decoded by the usual pull-picking method. The method used here: Pull on the shackle and turn each wheel until it stops or slightly clicks. If all are in a gates (true or false), you'll feel a give on the shackle. To identify a false gate, pull on the shackle and test every wheel by moving it a bit around its position. The one that gives the most resistance is a binder and is in a false gate. Now release tension and move that wheel by two positions. Repeat the process by testing again all wheels first for the next binder as can vary every time.
