Sean Graham's Foreign Bodies Orchestra Compilation

submitted by Sean on 08/24/18 1

This short compilation consists of three creations by Sean Graham: - Rivers of Blood Danced by Sean Graham, this work considers the legacy of Conservative politician Enoch Powell's speech "Rivers of Blood" (April 20th 1968). Powell foretold of the horrors that would occur in the streets of Britain if immigrants were continually allowed to gather British societies. It is said that his speech was vindicated by the outcomes of the riots that did occur due to racial and cultural disparages over the following course of decades post his “prophecy” Were his predictions right? - Buskin' Boy A young man struggles to come to terms with his inner demons. Tormented by the days just gone, he has arrived at a dark realisation of reality and is anxious about the future. With his brother missing in action after an area code attack, his mother down to her last nerve and his father absent since the day of his conception, he finds himself being drawn into an unusual hustle in the centre of London; busking. Here he meets a larger than life character who wants to show him the ropes and other unorthodox tricks. Will he face his troubles before trouble catches up with him by the end of this Fagin meets Boyz In Da Hood tale of truths and rites of passage? - Race Tracks A humorous and confronting work that takes the British "multicultural project" (David Cameron) into an international sporting ritual setting where various ethnic-athletes compete towards the highest podium of the games. The host is an embodiment of Britain and its long standing character. The gold they compete for, could it be fools gold? This work questions, in a diverse society who are the true winners and losers of their identity.
