Oklahoma Farmers Fights Back Against GMO. Plans to Start Organic Feed Mill Co-op

submitted by Madamxtra on 08/04/18 1

Currently, there is a movement underway as talks continue in Oklahoma farming community to start an organic feed mill to serve local farmers who no longer want to feed their livestock GMO feed. Apparently none of the feed mills in Oklahoma are manufacturing organic feed, and no feed store will sell organic feed in the state. Oklahoma chicken farmer - BL Cozad who prefers organic feed, feels he has no choice but to buy (genetically modified organism) GMO feed because that's about the only type of feed Oklahoma feed stores sells. He offered suggestions & input on how Oklahoma farmers can get an Organic Feed Mill Co-op started. Even though the government does offer grants to minorities for agricultural projects for which this could possibly qualify, Cozad did not think it was a suitable option, because he felt the government is broke.
