And now it's time for a look at the arts and culture with our Yim Yoonhee who joins us for a look at a different kind of film festival. Good afternoon. So this is the Olleh film festival, but when I think Olleh, I think of smartphones. Right. So this is actually the Olleh International Smartphone Film Festival. It started in 2011 shortly after the first theater release of a film shot entirely with an iPhone. Since then, the festival has grown to become the largest smartphone film festival in the world. A few directors were asked what they thought about smartphone films. Here's what they had to say. Well...what is called the smartphone films are...just... Just...that's what anybody can make. You only have to push down, like this, right? Hey, what do you think you are doing? Just like he said,... now anyone with a smartphone can make a movie. This year marks the 4th Olleh International Smartphone Film Festival,... a new type of festival perfect for today's smartphone driven world. It's a competition of short films,... and the only requirement is a smartphone. The jury will be led by Ryoo Seung-wan , director of the hit films "The Berlin File" and "Crying Fist,"... ...as they judge short film entries from around the world. There are 5 specials awards to be won this year,... including one main award. There's even an award for the funniest video in the competition. The smart phone has brought movie making into the grasps of the general public,... I... like you... so much. Mr. Taesung, where has he gone away? Director Lim What are you doing not shooting your film? As you see, I'm doing it right now. One moment... It's a festival meant to encourage the imagination,.. and the use of something today's society has become quite adept at using. This is something virtually anyone can participate in. The short clips we just saw, are they entries from previous years? No, they were actually created by already experienced directors to encourage people to submit entries for this year's festival. Starting July 1st, the festival will open to film submissions, and they'll be taking them until August 14th. Last year, they saw 700 submitted films, and this year they're expecting much much more. The festival has been growing every year, and in a country where the number of phones outnumber the number of people, I'm sure this year we'll see a new high in submissions. What are the different categories? The festival has a short film section, which is anything under 10 minutes, and also an extreme short film section, which is anything under one minute. There's a cash prize and plenty of awards to be won, including a youth award. They're really encouraging the younger generations to explore their creativity. And I'm sure they won't come short. Where will they be screening the films? The selected films will be screened at the Megabox in Gangnam in September. So you still have to wait a while, but that also means you have plenty of time to submit your short clips. Thank you for that report. Always a pleasure.
