www.self-help.org Salvador Terrones of San Diego is thriving as a college student and licensed Realtor, but he didn't reach this point easily. Raised in the foster care system, Salvador grew up in an impoverished community with few opportunities. He was fortunate to connect with a local nonprofit and a mentor who helped him build a better life. Self-Help is a family of nonprofit organizations working to create and protect ownership and economic opportunity for all. Since 1980, Self-Help has grown to include two credit unions, a loan fund, and a research and policy group.
