In this video, we get to meet the delightful Gabe and Finlay, as proud English Cocker spaniel owners Michelle and Mike introduce us to their pets. Michelle shares with us her lifelong love of this breed, and why she recommends English Cocker Spaniels as companions. The word cocker is thought to have derived from the use of Cocker spaniels to hunt woodcock. The English Cocker Spaniel is a breed of gun dog, closely related to the Field Spaniel and the English Springer Spaniel. It is one of several varieties of spaniel. English Cocker Spaniels are renowned for their happy disposition, and their tendency to bond strongly with the individuals who care for them. They tend to be optimistic, loyal and resilient dogs. Michelle was first introduced to the breed in childhood and has since owned blue roan, solids, and black and tan members of the breed. She’s found there are definite temperamental differences associated with the different colours. She loves the fact that within one breed there is so much variety. Michelle has found that as a breed English Cocker Spaniels most defining characteristic is that they love to love, and they love to be loved. They adore being in company, and they form strong emotional bonds with their humans. They are playful, and interact well with others.
