Let's go through some basic footwork for Muay Thai MMA. Again, it's from your basic stance. I try not to teach a lot of this fancy stuff where you're bouncing up on your feet. That's again, you know, more for a boxing situation where you don't have to worry about take downs or kicks. So for MMA or Muay Thai, you know, your basic footwork is called step and slide. Okay? You have six basic movements. You have forward, back, left, right, pivoting, and then pivoting back to your start. When you're stepping and sliding you never want to cross your feet. So you're going to step with the front foot, slide the back. And again from the basic stance, always try to come back. Alright? Step and slide back. Step and slide to your left. Step and slide to your right. Step and slide pivot. Step and slide pivot back. Okay? And you can always, again, you can always work your sprawls off of your footwork. You can work your basic strikes, punches, elbows, and knees. So again, footwork is not just offense. It can be defense as well. If an opponent's coming at me, maybe I'll step back, side step him. Maybe I'll pivot around, pivot back around. So you can use your footwork in many different situations to either set up take downs, to defend against take downs, to set up punches and kicks, or defend against punches and kicks. And that's your basic footwork.
