Valeriy Sokolov, Natural born Fiddler "There are today magnificent virtuosos, the Yitzhak Perlmans, Vadim Repins,Hilary Hahns, Maxime Vengerovs and the like, but none of them, in my opinion, bears the indisputable mark of that which made the intensely original art of the great violinists of the recent past. Since the death of David Oïstrakh and Yehudi Menuhin, I didn't imagine hearing again in my lifetime a sound gifted with such incandescence." -- Bruno Monsaingeon In "Natural Born Fiddler", Valery Sokolov, born in 1986 in Kharkov, Ukraine, accompanied on the piano by Svetlana Kosenko, performs Beethoven's 7th violin sonata, Prokofiev's 2nd sonata, Ysaÿe's 3rd sonata (Ballade), Saint-Saëns' Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso, Dvorak/Persinger's Song my mother taught me, Bartok/Szigeti's Hungarian Songs and Miroslav Skorikh's Spanish Danse.
