This documenary intertwines three related strands: firstly the distinguished soprano Barbara Hendricks discusses her international career as a singer; secondly we follow the preparation for the 1990 production of Donizetti's comic opera Don Pasquale, in a delightful production which stars Barbara Hendricks herself as the heroine Norina, the great French baritone Gabriel Bacquier in the title role of Don Pasquale, the Canadian baritone Gino Quilico as the scheming Dr. Malatesta, and the Italian tenor Luca Canonici as Norina's lover Ernesto; and thirdly the film portrays with super photography the idylic setting of Aix-en-Provence Festival in the South of France, where this production takes place.
