Bug Music: David Rothenberg's Insect Choir

submitted by jejebah on 04/20/18 1

David Rothenberg, a professor of philosophy and music at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, likes to make music in nature...with nature. With clarinet, saxophone or electronic synthesizer, he has accompanied choruses of bellowing whales, chirping katydids and drumming mosquitoes. In this short documentary, he serenades with the species that started it all: Magicicada septindecim--the 17-year periodical cicadas.
