I actually resorted to taking my son to McD's. Yes, I was lured in by the playground, but the fact that we went there was fully due to a total lack of alternatives. It's easy to fault parents for giving in and taking their kids to places like this, where they get brand-imprinted and become lifelong customers, but the real problem is that there are no healthy alternatives in a lot of places. So, I took him there, but I held fast to my resolution never to let him eat that junk and a good time was had by all, even though we had to ritually cremate our hippie consciences before entering the Golden Arches. As I explain in the video, I am no health nut and I have my own unhealthy habits, but the issue is the fact that our food supply has been hijacked and at this point it requires considerable knowledge and effort just to feed yourself with things that boost your health instead of undermining it. It shouldn't be this way. Healthy food is one of our best defenses against environmental toxins and it shouldn't be so very hard and/or expensive to get it.
