MySQL 22 - Normalization Summary

submitted by mkenny400 on 03/20/18 1

1NF, 2NF and 3NF all talk about how data relates to the key. First normal form makes sure that all columns are singular and relevant to the key. Second normal form forces every column to describe the entire key. This gets rid of partial dependencies. Third normal form gets rid of transitive dependencies. This happens when a column does depend on the primary key, but through another column. In summary, any data needs to describe the key, the whole key, and nothing but the key. At this point, you could say that the database is normalized. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Support me! www.patreon.com/calebcurry Subscribe to my newsletter: eepurl.com/-8qtH Donate!: bit.ly/DonateCTVM2. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Additional Links~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ More content: CalebCurry.com Facebook: www.facebook.com/CalebTheVideoMaker Google+: plus.google.com/+CalebTheVideoMaker2 Twitter: twitter.com/calebCurry Amazing Web Hosting - www.dreamhost.com/r.cgi?1487063 (The best web hosting for a cheap price!)
