When you are born again by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ you receive the Holy Spirit who fills your life like inhaled oxygen fills the lungs. It takes a strong healthy heart to bring that life giving breath to every extremity of your body. So it is with our spiritual self. We need a pure heart before God to appropriate the work and presence of the Holy Spirit to every part of our life...body, soul and spirit...as Jesus put it: "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God" Matthew 5:8
